Judy Butler, Fused Glass Artist

Quirky Creations is my fused glass studio, born from a passion for the art of glass fusing and a desire to create distinctive pieces that celebrate exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a touch of whimsy.
My artistic journey began in graphic design, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Utah. After working as a graphic designer for 10 years, I pursued my teaching credential at Sacramento State. I then spent 30 years teaching in the San Juan Unified School District, primarily at Casa Roble High School.
It was while teaching a mixed-media class at Casa Roble that I discovered fused glass. I was immediately captivated by the medium’s endless possibilities for color, texture, and design. Fused glass provides the perfect outlet for combining my design background with my love of creativity, allowing me to bring a sense of playfulness and whimsy to each unique piece.
Throughout my artistic career, I have participated in numerous juried shows and festivals, including the KVIE Art Auction (four times), the Crocker Art Festival (15 years), the Sacramento Arts Festival (three years), and the Fort Mason Women’s Fair. I have also had the pleasure of creating commissioned pieces for individuals and corporations across the country.
Through Quirky Creations, I strive to create art that is distinctive, thoughtfully crafted, and infused with personality—a little unexpected, a little playful, and always uniquely its own.
